Dr Hendrik Kraetzschmar is Associate Professor in Middle East Politics and Director of Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures.

Research

Dr Kraetzschmar’s main area of research is the nature of electoral and party politics in the Middle East and North Africa as well as Arab civil society and state-society relations. He is supervising several students working on the IR and Comparative Politics of the region and has published in a number of academic journals. His most recent edited publication is The Dynamics of Opposition Cooperation: Contentious Politics in Times of Change (Routledge 2013). His full Leeds University profile can be found here.
